Eat & Drink

As you would expect of a wine village, Martinborough has a thriving dining scene, an exceptional wine bar and it’s own craft brewery.

The Martinborough Restaurant & Bar – Paddock to Plate is located in The Martinborough Hotel, built in 1882, the iconic Hotel stands pride of place at the entrance to the Square in Martinborough Wine Village.  The Restaurant & Bar serve fresh, honest, locally sourced food.  Sloping polished wooden floors, old world charm, mixed with modern furnishings, come together to create a relaxed and welcoming dining experience.

During the Martinborough Reds, Whites & Brews Festival we have created a number of exciting and fun dining experiences for touring fans & locals to enjoy. The Restaurant is located in The Martinborough Hotel building & open Thursday to Monday over the Lions Tour from 5.30pm until late. You can dine from our popular Paddock to Plate winter menu.  For the festival we have matched suggested Martinborough red & white wines and regional craft beer for each of our winter entrée, main and dessert dishes.

If you want all of the decision making  made for you, choose our special Lions Festival three course set menu, which we have matched with a local Martinborough red, white and regional craft beer.

The Bar which is located right next to the Restaurant, is open Friday to Monday from midday and Tuesday to Thursday from 1pm until late and is a popular meeting place for both locals and visitors.  Dine from our Grazing Platter or we have created some specific wine & craft beer matched options for you, during your Lions stay.  Enjoy a Wine Flight of four Martinborough reds or four Martinborough whites, or 4 regional craft beers, matched with bite size seasonal dishes.

This is a great introduction to our food,  regional wines & craft beer.  If you are feeling adventurous try our ‘Whiskeys of the World’ with 4 Whiskeys matched with bite sized seasonal dishes.  On Thursday 29th June come and mix with the locals in the Bar for our Quiz Night, starting from 7.30pm.

We look forward to hosting you during the Reds, Whites & Brews Martinborough Festival.  You can’t miss The Martinborough Hotel building – we have been standing pride of place at the entrance to the Square since 1882.   See you there!

Cafe Medici is open 7 days from 8.30am to 4.00pm and for Dinner from 6.30pm Thursday to Saturday.

Offering a range of rugby specials throughout the day you will want to try Medici.

The ethos at Martinborough Brewery is to produce premium hand crafted beer, using natural ingredients, blended together by people who are passionate about their craft, product and region.  The brewery is “micro” in size, producing 1200L batches of beer.  Production is a labour of love and hands on process, from the grinding of malts to the application of caps and labels. We are a boutique local brewery with a focus on quality over quantity.
For Reds, Whites and Brews, we will be collaborating with a number of cafes and restuarants to produce some awesome Food and Beer matches. Also we will be hosting Beer Tastings and Brewery Tours.

The Vineyard Café at Margrain Vineyard offers unparalleled vineyard views and outdoor seating areas right next to the vines.  Enjoy the welcoming indoor dining areas, where the two fireplaces ensure a cosy relaxed atmosphere.  Simplicity, quality and freshness are the cornerstones of the café-style menu.

Specialising in locally grown produce from Martinborough, the Wairarapa and the Greater Wellington Region, the menu reflects our ‘Local’ roots. From home-cured bacon, and salmon, home-made pasta, ciabatta bread made daily, to the exclusive Martinborough wine list. We also have access to the world’s largest wine cellar of Martinborough wines (from the adjacent Martinborough Wine Merchants).
