Martinborough Vineyard

Handcrafted excellence in wine since 1980.

Established in 1980, Martinborough Vineyard is an iconic, pioneering producer of Martinborough with a commitment to the perfection of producing standout wines. The first winery to plant Pinot Noir grapes in this famed region, today it is home to the oldest vines in the district.
Artisan winemaking techniques, along with dedication to land preservation, and sharing a legacy of wine knowledge with future generations, has earned Martinborough Vineyard a continuous reputation for excellence.

Especially for Reds, Whites and Brews

The cellar door will be open every day from 11 until 4pm where you will be able to meet the winemaker, enjoy a tasting and learn from the experts.

Olivo

Visit Olivo, situated just outside the wine village of Martinborough, to experience the full process of how to make top quality extra virgin olive oil and use it in exciting recipes. Olivo is open from 10 -30 am to 5pm every day during Reds, Whites and Brews.

We produce two award winning extra virgin blends from our olive grove and an exciting and innovative range of infused oils – currently lemon, orange, vanilla, porcini, fennel, cumin, smoked chilli and smoked paprika. Late June is the time to pick olives so you may catch the large tree shaker in action on the grove.

Especially for Reds, Whites and Brews

During the week, there will be olive oil goodies to sample in the tasting room or you may want to book an olive grove tour for $15 per head to take a ‘trip around the trees’ – all 1200 of them and learn to taste olive oil like a professional. Tours need to have a prior booking and take about one and a quarter hours. The charge is $15 per head.

Te Kairanga

Where the soil is rich and the food is plentiful.

Established in 1984, Te Kairanga’s land was originally owned by John Martin, the founding father of Martinborough. The wines come from 105 hectares of sustainably-farmed estate vineyards planted on ancient riverbeds. Whilst Te Kairanga’s passion and specialty has always been Pinot Noir the winery also produces small amounts of Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Riesling and Pinot Gris.

Especially for Reds, Whites and Brews

The cellar door will be open every day from 11 until 4pm. Taste wine with the winemaker, John Kavanagh.
Also available for tasting will be locally produced Lighthouse Gin with Rachel Hall, the gin maker.
The Wharekauhau pop up restaurant will be serving delicious food every day from the 27th June to 4th July.

Alexander Vineyard

Ata Rangi

One of the regions pioneering wineries, Ata Rangi was founded by Clive Paton, who in the 1980’s turned a deep love of the land into a successful family-run business committed to producing world-class Pinot Noir and championing conservation. Our roots in the Wairarapa run deeper than that, in 1977 Clive scored the first try against the Lions on their NZ tour.

Brodie Estate

Brodie Estate is a small family owned vineyard in Martinborough, the first place to grow Pinot Noir successfully in New Zealand. The vineyard terroir consists of silts over tight clays, wet in winter and rock hard in summer with tight gravels below.

The vineyard was planted in 2001. The plants have been grown without irrigation which promotes small succulent berries with intense fruit flavours and spicy and savoury characteristics. Brodie Estate produces 1000 cases of high quality pinot noir each year.

Especially for Reds, Whites and Brews

Explore the vineyard and follow the season’s vagaries as the vines produce the new season’s crop and then into the winery to see how it all comes together and get a feel for last year’s vintage. Join us in Ann’s Gallery where her latest series of richly coloured, ebullient work explores the alchemical nature of the winemaking process and enjoy a matched vertical tasting of our pinot noirs with artisan cheeses.
You will need to book for this tour. By appointment for groups of four or more. Tour usually runs from 1.30 and 3.00pm. Allow an hour and a half. $85.00 per person includes a flight of wines and accompanying platter. Mob: 0274446648
